¡°Realising Quality Work Culture¡±

A total of 136 participants from the company¡¯s management and executive staff attended this year¡¯s biennial conference in Penang.  The theme for this year¡¯s conference was ¡°Realising Quality Work Culture¡±.

Spread over the three days Wesak Day weekend, the participants spent the time together bonding through team building exercises and workshop sessions on enhancing quality output.

Participants were divided into 12 teams of 10 to 11 persons each and these teams were put through team building exercises facilitated by external facilitators.  The team building activities involved all participants with the facilitators, exhorting and challenging them to finish the mission.

The teams were also observed closely by the facilitators and members of our senior management team for their level and quality of participation. At the end of each phase of the team building activities a debriefing during which participants were given opportunities to share what they had learned. All teams participated with great enthusiasm and high level of team involvement and exhibited the ability for planning and executing the 5 ¡®M¡¯s¡¯ of methodology, machine, material required, money  and manpower in order to accomplish the mission.

The lessons learned at the team building exercises were put to good use in the workshop session of the conference when the same teams gathered together to address operational issues with the view to finding solutions to these issues. All 12 teams presented their findings and solutions to the conference on the final morning before the conference came to an end.

The conference ended on a high note with management giving an assurance that the suggestions presented by the various teams will be studied and suitable ones implemented as necessary.
